Full Moon Faery Celebration (2014)

This story occurred on July 14th, 2014 during one of this summer's "super" full moons. Super full moons are rare, but do occur every few years. The summer of 2014 has 3 super full moons. These moon are 20% larger than standard full moons; which allows them to provide more light, higher energy and stronger tides.

Faeries love to have summertime festivals. These times are periods of great revelry for fae to enjoy the peak time of nature in its fullest bloom. Full moons are high points for them to get together to dance, drink, run amok and show off for the gods of nature. This story is about a faery celebration that woke me from my sleep at 2am, outside of my window, under the oak and willow trees.

I was sleeping wonderfully that evening. I was in a peaceful slumber with neutral, light dreams. Suddenly I heard while sleeping a up and down, bumpy like faint noise (similar to that of taking an old dial radio and dialing through the stations without stopping with the volume on low). Slowly at 2am on the button, I began to awake. With my eyes still shut, yet awake, I was trying to focus in on the sounds. The sounds seemed as though they were coming from outside of my room.

When I fully awoke and opened my eyes I looked around trying to find the source of the mumbling. I peered at my significant other and she was sleeping making no noise at all. I sat up to look at my dog whom was in full sleep mode at the foot of the bed; he was making no noises at all. During this time of peering around the room the noises were still happening. I knew now that it was not coming from anything in my bedroom.

I got out of bed and realized the sounds were slightly louder, and I wanted to find the source. I walked out of my bedroom and the mumbling sounds could no longer be heard. The sounds were in no way coming from my house, they had to be outside of my house, yet near the window. When I returned to my bedroom I walked over to my window (which is very close to a forested area adjoining my house) and noticed it was truly coming from outside in the wooded area.

I opened the window slightly and looked out and saw nothing, but the sounds continued. I remembered it was the super full moon and now realized what the sounds were coming from: a faery summer celebration. I have experienced these first hand many times in life; mostly while camping, at a bonfire party or conducting a summer ritual. I had a very peaceful feeling come over me and I felt really happy, as if all the pressures of the world were lifted from my shoulders.

As opposed to going outside to observe the festival, this time I decided to just listen in. After reaching an almost meditative state, I could start to break down the sounds and hear individuals. There were to my estimate 20-25 faeries that were actively singing, talking, cheering and humming along. Some had deeper pitched voices and some had almost childlike high pitched voices. The deeper voiced ones seemed to be yapping away the loudest. The higher pitch voices seemed to sing and hum along. Most of the middle pitched voices seemed to do all of the above. Of course I would be asked, "Did I understand them?" That answer would sadly be, no. Fae speak many languages which are long forgotten by mankind. However, in Celtic legends, many words in ancient Celt came from the Fae languages. Listening to faery revelry is equivalent to listening to a loud crowd at a huge sporting event... its all mumble and tones.

After about 30 minutes I began to get really tired and decided to head back to bed. Oddly my dog and girl both did not awake ever; which is odd for my dog as he seems to awake at ths lightest of noises. I guess I was in-tune to the festival and the fae in general as I always have been. This time I let them party without me. In the morning when I got up I went out to the trees by my window and as always saw no track, trails or signs that anything had happened, but I am sure it was a great party.
